Last week before Christmas brought 11 new signals in 8 different markets (out of 22):

As usual the weather backcast contains the ichimoku analysis of 22 indices, futures and FOREX pairs. The linked charts contain all the details and neccessary context. Both charts and tables are generated automatically, at the moment the software is still work in progress. As such, I am not sure if it works 100% correctly, so if you see a mistake, would like to see an addition/change or simply give feedback: feel free to mail me at This email address is being protected from spambots. If you would like to play around with the system that is used to generate the signals and charts on this blog, you can do so! The latest version of my software, ichinscratchy v0.3.0, was released in December 2017. It´s free & open source, you can find it under http://spare-time-trading.de/en/trading-system. You can check out the development activities at gitlab: https://gitlab.com/werwurm/ichi_reloaded

If you chose to NOT continue reading (shame on you :)): I wish you a nice Christmas and relaxing days of with your family and friends!

If you would like to play around with the system that is used to generate the signals and charts on this blog, you can do so! The latest version of my software, ichinscratchy v0.2.1, was released in April 2017. It´s free & open source, you can find it under http://spare-time-trading.de/en/trading-system. Development on the upcoming v0.3 version is going on since then, with it come exciting new features as real money management, market regime filters and much more. Actually this week´s overview was done using v0.3beta. Check out the development activities at gitlab: https://gitlab.com/werwurm/ichi_reloaded

Looks like the end of the year brings volatility back into the markets- and in all directions, which I like :) This week saw 10 new signals in 7 different markets (out of 22). Those markets were:

This week finally saw some more action: 15 Ichimoku signals, triggered in 8 different markets (out of 22). Those markets were:

If you follow my blog (or my twitter account) the summary of strong signals won't be a surprise. If you missed them, you can still read them :) However, at the end of the week comes the Ichimoku summary and the current trend status.

Volatility is the trendfollower's friend. Missing volatility isn't. This week the Chinese Hang Seng Index and Palladium were the lone signals generated during the whole week, which constitutes the negative record for this year. Both were strong short signals.

Chinese Hang Seng index made a strong short signal today. This is the 4th strong short signal in a row, each one on a lower price level and so confirming the downtrend.

Palladium on the other hand fell a pretty long way from last high and is now in a downtrend by Ichimoku standards. For signal details and chart please see below.

If you want to have a look at my system and/or play around with the code, have a look at The Ichinscratchy trading system

All quiet on the western front: last week even less signals were triggered than the week before, namely 4 in 3 different markets. Hang Seng and Silver are bearish at the moment, SMI with a surprising long signal (we will see how far SMI can go).

Chinese Hang Seng index made a strong short signal today. For signal details and chart please see below.

Btw.: I am currently close to a "feature freeze" state. Then comes the documentation, code cleanup and bugfixing, after that I will post my software, docs and source code here on my blog. If you want a sneak peek at the (yet VERY unpolished) code, look at:

Last week only 5 strong signalsin 3 markets were triggered (which is a somewhat negative record since I do this blog). All commodities do not look bullish, as opposed by most indices. SMI had a VERY strong week and is in the company of its bullish european friends :)

Finally, my home market generated a new strong long signal: the german DAX finally did it. Well actually it made a Kumo breakout yesterday (look at the chart) but this was not confirmed by the chikou trend filter. Today`s signal is "more valid" :)

Last week saw 9 STRONG signals in 5 markets. BuFu is in a downtrend since 4 months and seems to stay so. Coffee went through the Cloud without hesitating and is now also in a downtrend. SMI still creates short signal after short signal. On the long side we have Orange Juice and WTI, which had some pretty impressive candles last week and technically is back in an uptrend. And as we are following the trend, we do not question this ;)

The beauty of systematic trading: let the dumb computer do the scan over all the markets, the calculations..and the bell ringing if something interesting happens. Like today, when WTI generated a strong long signal again. Been completely under my radar for the last couple of days, so I missed the huge last candles. Just keep my program running on EOD data every evening, check signals and post them if they occur (which was not the case for the last 2 days, so no post :))

More time to enjoy life... or spend the evenings bug hunting those small little logic errors that occur only under certain circumstances..grml.
